More than 10 million people around the world suffers from a retinal disease known as macular degeneration resulting in loss of eyesight. Macular tissues are found in the retina which plays a major role in identifying lights.
Treatment to this condition using drugs are effective to only a small fraction of population, but development in therapeutic devices for solving this problem looks promising. Device shown in the video is different from the current available devices that can just distinguish high contrast images. This device works by producing encoded signal that matches the signal produced by bipolar and amacrine cells to the neural network.
